As some of you know Dyserth Road is now retired from the exhibition circuit and has been sold. The website will stay for reference purposes and inspiration to those wishing to model a small modern image layout. Thanks to everyone that has e-mailed of left comments in the guest book over the years and thanks to those that came to exhibitions to see dyserth road and thanks to the exhibition managers that invited me to bring the layout to their exhibitions especially Mike Turner and Dave Skipsey who gave me my first taste of exhibiting back in October 2002 at the Merseyside MRS show in Birkenhead the rest is history.
Below, Holland Park makes it debut at Stafford.
Construction of the new layout started on 6th January 2007 and it made its debut at the Stafford exhibition on the 2nd-3rd February 2008
Welcome to my website featuring 'Dyserth Road', the name of my OO gauge small space modern image railway. For the benefit of readers outside the UK who may be used to H0 (1:87) as the common model railway scale, I should explain that virtually all commercial models of British trains are built to a scale of 1:76 (4mm = 1 foot) while running on the same 16.5 mm gauge track as H0 models. Having always built large continuous run layouts in the past my interest shifted to small shunting layouts and detailing locomotives, which left my large layout's full potential unfulfilled. So, a change of direction in the hobby led to me creating my first compact portable layout, Dyserth Road was the result and satisfies my interest in modern diesel and electric traction, it measures 8 foot by 2 foot and is fully portable. It consists of a small diesel fuelling and inspection point with stabling sidings for both diesel and electric locomotives. A single road shed is also present to add some extra operational interest. Dyserth Road is operated by DCC (Digital Command Control) using Lenz equipment and the fitting of decoders and lighting kits is ongoing. As well as this work I am currently collecting stock and researching for a future project which will be a model of Peak Forest in Derbyshire featuring present day EWS workings. For the latest news click on the 'New Project' button on the navigation bar to the left. The main purpose of this site is to promote modern image modelling and provide inspiration for fellow modern image railway enthusiasts and to show what can be done in a relatively small space and a short amount of time. Please use the buttons on the left to navigate around the site, make sure you check out the latest pictures. I hope you enjoy your visit to 'Dyserth Road'.

Calling all diesel/electric era modelers
Interested in diesel and electric era modelling discussion? Then check out the Diesel & Electric Modellers United (DEMU) society website. And if you've got a modern image layout website, with some information about your layout, and photos (it doesn't matter how complete it is, anything from the bare baseboards with just the track, to full exhibition standard layouts!) then join the UK Modern Image Layouts Webring The UK modern image layouts web ring has been set up to allow web surfers to find modern image websites on the net, easily and quickly without spending hours searching for well hidden sites on search engines - excellent for both web surfers looking at layouts for inspiration, and also exhibition managers looking for possible layouts to invite, and it means you're layout website gets seen by even more visitors!
